About Us

Everyone Writes is a complete writing workshop that allows students to become more proficient in the genres of informative, narrative, compare/contrast, opinion, and persuasive writing. It is primarily directed to grade levels 3-5 and English as a second language learner, but it can also be used for struggling readers and writers in grades 6-8.

Everyone Writes adapts interactive writing language strategies employed in primary grade instruction to scaffold intermediate students. It is multi-sensory and allows students to pace their writing by the use of mnemonics and color tabs. Over the course of the program, students work individually, as part of a whole class, in small groups, and with partners.

I began to develop Everyone Writes when I discovered that my fourth graders were not able to write essays and I could not find any product that helped them. After four years of testing and refinement, I created a program that made it possible for every single student in my classes, from the most struggling to the most proficient, to begin writing essays. Those students wrote over forty complete essays every year. Remedial students became more confident independent writers. Proficient students learned to write with individuality and depth. All of the students learned to enjoy writing and looked forward to doing it. Everyone Writes works in my classroom; it has worked in my colleagues’ classrooms, and it will work in yours too.
